A Blue Hour

Twilight

Synopsis:

About three things I was absolutely positive:

First, Edward was a vampire.

Second, there was a part of him–and I didn’t know how dominant that paNrt might be–that thirsted for my blood.

And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

When Isabella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets the mysterious, alluring Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret.

What Bella doesn’t realize is the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk. And, it might be too late to turn back. . . .

Preface:

Bella talks about how if she had never gone to Forks she would not be facing death, but still does not regret her decision to go eventhough she might die.

Chapter 1:

We meet Isabella Swan, a plain, pale, clumsy, brunette from Phoenix, Arizona. She is leaving her newly married mother, Renee, in Phoenix to move in with her father, Charlie the town sheriff, in a town that she hates. We get introduced to Forks, Washington, the most rained on city in the United States, that is under almost constant cloud cover.

When Bella arrives in Forks, she learns that her father has bought her an old, red 50s pickup truck from Billy Black, a Quileute tribal elder . Bella has her first day at Forks High School with a total of 358 students. There was only one nice car in the parking lot, a silver Volvo, so her truck doesn't stand out. The first student she meets is Eric Yorkie, a greasy-haired, chess club type.

At lunch on her first day she sits with some new friends, including Jessica Stanley, Angela Weber, and Mike Newton. She notices a table of 5 students not talking, not eating, that are beautiful, pale, and all have dark shadows under their eyes. We learn that this is the Cullen family that have all adopted by Dr.Cullen and his wife. Their names are Edward, Emmett, Alice, Rosalie, and Jasper.

Bella has Biology class and sits next to Edward Cullen. When she walks by he gives her a look of loathing and anger. He has coal black eyes. After class Edward leaves abruptly and Mike Newton asks what she did to Edward to make him so mad. She goes to gym class with Mike and we learn that Bella is awful at sports.

After class Bella goes to the office to turn in papers and Edward is in there trying to get changed to a different Biology class. A few seconds after Bella arrives in the room he notices she is there and stiffens and glares at her and leaves the office immediately. Bella is confused about Edwards behavior and tries not to cry all the way home.

Chapter 2:

The second day of school and Edward is absent. Eric and Mike both like Bella and Mike follows Bella around all day. Mike talks about a beach trip he is planning and tells Bella she should come. Bella notices that the Cullens are all well dressed, but their looks and money buy them no acceptance at school.

Bella starts doing the grocery shopping and cooking for Charlie. Bella has three emails from her mother and we learn that Bella plays the role of parent to Renee. At dinner Bella and Charlie talk about the Cullens and Charlie gets angry when Bella mentions that they don't fit in.

Edward misses an entire week of school. The next Monday at school it is snowing and Bella hates snow. At lunch, Bella sees that Edward is back at school and she feels sick and nervous. Jessica points out that Edward is staring at her.

In Biology, Edward introduces himself and they touch accidentally. When they touch and electric shock goes between them that makes them both jump. Bella also notices that Edward is very cold. Bella notices that his eyes are now ocher and asks him if he got contacts. He says no and she wonders why he is lying. Bella tells Edward a lot about her family and why she moved to Forks. After school Bella sees Edward staring at her in the parking lot and she almost has a wreck because of it. When she is driving away, she sees him laughing at her.

Chapter 3:

Bella wakes up to see snow on the ground and that all of the rain from the day before had frozen solid. Charlie had put snow chains on her tires, so she got to school safely. In the parking lot Bella notices Edward is 4 cars down from her truck when Tyler's dark blue van comes skidding across the parking lot at her. Edward protects her from the car crash and Bella thinks he lifted the van off of her twice. Bella wants to know how he got over there so quickly and he lies to her and says he was right next to her.

They are all taken to the hospital and Tyler is way more banged up than Bella, who just has a bump on her head, or Edward, who is completely unscathed. Tyler cannot stop apologizing to them. Dr. Carlisle Cullen checks on Bella and released her to go home.

Bella asks Edward if she can speak to him alone. She admits that she thinks he lifted the van off of her and he tells her no one will believe her and gets angry when she keeps on about it and walks away.

Bella goes home with Charlie and calls Renee, who is hysterical and begs Bella to come home. Bella wants to stay in Forks because she is becoming obsessed with Edward. That was the first night she dreamed about Edward.

Chapter 4:

We learn that Bella has the same dream every night where Edward is walking away from her and no matter how hard she tries she cannot catch up. Ever since the accident, Tyler Crowley follows her everywhere trying to make up for almost killing her. Tyler joined their lunch table and Eric and Mike are not happy about it.

No one is concerned about Edward and no one was asking for his account like they did to Bella. Edward no longer talked to Bella in Biology class. Jessica called Bella and asked if it was okay if she asked Mike to the girl's choice spring dance. Bella assured her it was fine.

The next day in Biology, Mike tells Bella that Jessica asked him to the dance and her told her he'd have to think about it because he was wondering if Bella was going to ask him. Bella said that she was going to Seattle so she couldn't go to the dance.

After class Edward spoke to Bella and told her it was better if they weren't friends. She accused him of regretting saving her life. This makes Edward angry and Bella storms out of the room and drops all of her books. After school in the parking lot Eric asks Bella to the Dance and she gives him the same Seattle excuse. Edward hears this and laughs. Then, while Edward was blocking Bella in, Tyler came up to her window and asked her to the dance. Bella saw Edward laughing in his rear view window.

When Bella gets home Jessica calls her to tell her that mike said yes and is going to the dance with her. Bella tells Charlie that she plans to go to Seattle and he wants to know if she'll miss the dance. She reminds him that she doesn't dance.

The next morning Edward asks Bella to ride to Seattle with him and she agrees to. Then Edward warns her that she should stay away from him again.

Chapter 5:

Edward invites Bella to sit next to him at lunch by themselves. Edward warns her that she should stay away from him. Then he tells her that he is not going to Biology that day. Bella goes to class and see that they are doing blood typing and she gets light headed when she smells the blood of pricked fingers. Mike Newton takes her to the nurse and she almost passes out on the way.

Edward see them and then dismisses Mike and carries Bella to the nurse. Then Edward drives Bella home and they talk about their families and they learn that they both like Debussy. Bella invited Edward to go to the beach with everyone, but Edward tells her that he is going camping with Emmett.

Chapter 6:

Bella goes to First Beach with the students and all she keeps thinking about is Edward. While she is there she sees Jacob Black, who she grew up playing with while she was in Forks visiting her dad. A local boy name Sam says that the Cullens don't come there. Bella is curious so she flirts with Jacob to find out more. He tells her about the old Quileute tribe's legend about the cold ones and the treaty that they made. He tries to scare her by telling her that the sames Cullens made the treaty many years ago. Jacob thinks that these are just stories.
